Paint & Wallpaper

Paint is one of those things that has constantly changed over thousands of years as people and civilizations have incorporated color to express ideas and personal preferences.  Today, we have the opportunity to choose from a magnitude of colors and paint types.  Wallpaper offers many options and designs to support preference and is readily available.

On-SITE offers traditional roller and brush application for interior work and airless spraying for new construction and exterior work.  With over 20 years of experience, papering is offered as a viable alternative to paint.  We pride ourselves on quality and clean-up with attention to detail and customer satisfaction.

Painting

Surface preparation is critical to the final look of any paint job.  On-SITE invests whatever time is required to prepare surfaces for painting.  Nail and screw holes are patches, stress cracks are spackled, large holes are filled, and whatever carpentry is required is completed.  Sanding and surface priming is typically required to complete the preparation process.

Paint selection is typically done by the customer, however, On-SITE can help recommend the paint grade and manufacturer for your specific needs.  Latex, acrylic, and oil based paints have emerged in popularity, mainly due to the individuals applying it and the durability each provides.  Each has its intended use and the selection is typically based upon the application and the price range they expect to pay.

Latex paint is the most popular as it supports color tints well, is easy to apply and clean-up and its longevity and wear ability is good.  No special knowledge or experience is required to apply latex paint, just open the container and brush, roll, or spray it on.  Latex is formulated for interior and exterior use.

Acrylics paint are next in popularity as it produces a harder finish that reflects light and resists dirt.  It requires more preparation before application, takes longer to apply, and its less forgiving of improper application.  Most acrylics are latex based so they follow the same characteristics clean-up and application.

Oil based paint requires knowledge and experience for proper use and application.  Use to enhance the depth and richness of color, durability and longevity, oil is typically used in high end applications where sensitivity to application time and cost is low.  Knowledge of paint chemistry is helpful as the base paint is mixed with oils and thinners for final application.  Clean-up requires use of agents as turpentine to break down the paint and oils.

Wallpapering

Wallpaper is as popular today as when it was first introduced to the decorating industry.  It is available in paper, vinyl-covered paper and vinyl depending upon the application and required durability.  Providing design for the wall, patterns and murals offer a distinctive look for any room.

Surface preparation is required to ensure the paper adheres properly to the surface.  Old paper is removed, holes are repaired and the surface is sized.  Anything short of these steps will likely result in a poor look and certainly decreased longevity and durability.

Paper selection is based upon type, each intended to address a specific need.  Cost is based upon the type of material (paper, vinyl covered paper, vinyl), how much waste is generated in the installation, and quantity of material rolls (paper width of 20 1/2, 24, 29 inches).

Boarders can accent both painted or papered surfaces and should be considered as a viable option in your decorating.
